Chicken stew
A sumptuous stew for all the family. Serve mashed for your weaning baby.

Dairy free Milk free Ingredients 2tbsp olive oil 6 chicken pieces 2 leeks, trimmed, washed and finely sliced Fresh sage leaves 4 sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks 500ml hot chicken stock Steamed green vegetable e.g. shredded cabbage, to serve Method01 Heat the oil in a large heavy based casserole dish, add the chicken and fry gently until lightly browned all over. You may need to do this in batches as if the pan is too full the chicken will steam instead of browning. 02 When all the chicken pieces are lightly coloured, take out of the pan and gently fry the leeks until soft. 03 Return all the chicken pieces to the pan and scatter over the fresh sage. Add the sweet potatoes, the chicken stock and cover and leave to simmer gently for 30 minutes. 04 Take the lid off and simmer the stew gently for another 15 minutes so that the juices have a chance to reduce slightly. Serve with a steamed green vegetable like cabbage.
