Немного о питомнике CALIENTE (Mexico).
Совсем недавно Рикардо Форастьери, управляющий питомником прислал мне эту информацию для публикации в журнале "Ксолоитскуинтли"
Caliente Kennels
Caliente Kennels was founded in 1993, when the Mexican Kennel Club (F.C.M.) and the Fédération Cynologyque Internationale (F.C.I.) recognized “Caliente” as breeding cattery name worldwide, eventhough, the Hank family had been breeding Xoloitzcuintles since 1970.
The kennel becomes public when I am named Breeding Manager by its owner Mr. Jorge Hank and I am commissioned to promote the breed: its history and the cultural value it represents for all Mexicans.
There is no doubt that Caliente’s most representative dog is Hermoso, until this day, in Mexico he holds the largest number of international championship titles of all breeds: 29 titles in 27 different countries. This came as the result of fulfilling Caliente Kennels’ mission to promote and disseminate the breed internationally.
Hermoso, also obtained the “Champion of Champions Title”, when he won the most important dog show in Mexico in 1997 and placed himself as all breeds dog of the year in 1996, after only six months of continuous showing. Although, because of a technical detail, the title was taken away making him number two nation-wide. Also in 1997 he was crowned as Best Dog at SICALAM dog show, the most important show in America for F.C.I. countries.
Hermoso was the first Xoloitzcuintle to receive a best in show at international events; he has been a watershed in the modern history of the breed.
Because of this very special affection for Hermoso and his legacy, today, he is also the image of our national champion soccer team and on every game, a group of Xoloitzcuintles are the official mascot at Caliente Stadium where the team Xoloitzcuintles of Tijuana play, also property of Mr. Jorge Hank.
The most beautiful thing that can happen to me is to hear thirty five thousand people cheer: “Xolos, Xolos, Xolos…!” in the stadium at every game, it makes my blood boil with excitement and I feel, that a vision we had 20 years ago, has been accomplished. When we first started, at the national dog shows, even those held in Mexico City, people would come to me and ask: “what kind of dog is this?”, “is it ill?”, “is its skin normally like that?”, “where does it come from?”, “Is it from the far east?”.
Today, after more than 500 championship titles, more than 2000 litters, after being the only Xoloitzcuintle kennel awarded Kennel of the Year, having bred Hermoso Caliente, the most important Xoloitzcuintle in history; Serrano Caliente: the best Xoloitzcuintle in the U.S.A.; Coriso Caliente: the most recognized Xolo in Europe; Magia Caliente: best veteran dog at 2007 World Dog Show, obtaining in 2012 the Xoloitzcuintle of the Year award with Tzicual Caliente in the standard size and with Vampiro Caliente in the miniature size and winning the national specialty of the breed in Yucatan with Un Papalote Caliente and having the best kennels of the breed use our bloodlines in their breeding projects, we haven’t stopped, on the contrary, keeping true to the idea of not publishing our accomplishments or brag about our awards, we have the commitment of going further.
Facing the modern times as well as the popularity of the breed, the coated variety acceptance by the breeders and the intentional or non-intentional bad practices; we have undertaken the task of founding the Mexican Xoloitzcuintle Club which organized the first world congress and brought together: historians, anthropologists, biologists, judges and breeders. We are also working towards changing the breed standard, in such way, that the coated Xolo is accepted with the purpose of contributing in the breeding and having more control in such breeding looking not to affect the dog’s typicity.
On the other hand, we set up the National Xoloitzcuintle Foundation of Mexico that is recognized by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (I.N.A.H.), being the only of its kind to receive such acknowledgment from Mexico’s government. Moreover, it is recognized as well by the National Council of Science and Technology (C.O.N.A.C.Y.T) for the investigations done in genetics with the genetic code, biology for skin studies and also because of the geographic studies done to determine the breed’s coat color.
For Caliente Kennels, the breed means more than numbers and winning dog shows, it means more than being awarded by a conformation judge, it is rather a cultural legacy from our ancestors, it is a national statement that world-wide, talks about our history, it is the spirit of our Tlatoanis that revives when one of our dogs brings happiness to its owner, is to see…
How a dog that walked through the Great Tenochtitlan, walks today on the streets of the world telling the 3000 years of history that it has witnessed.
It also means to disseminate the oldest but more evolved dog of all breeds.
